BMS.Satellite battery management system for EV conversions · Beta
Dynam BMS turns VCU+ into a full cell-level battery manager. Snap satellites onto the modules, daisy-chain them, and tune the pack in Bolt next to torque maps.
Already running Orion, Fellten UBP, or Vero? VCU+ talks to those over CAN. Dynam satellites are the in-house pack, not the only option. See VCU+ BMS types.
How the pack is wired.
VCU+ is the master
There is no separate BMS controller. VCU+ aggregates every satellite reading, owns pack-level fault logic, contactor sequencing and derate - the satellites only measure, balance, and report.
Satellites on one bus
Up to 12 satellite boards daisy-chain on a single isolated bus. Mount one per module instead of running long, noisy sense harnesses back to a central board.
Per satellite
Each satellite is two 12-cell monitoring units in one board - two dedicated ASICs, two 26-pin connectors - for up to 24 series cells, plus 4 thermistors on a single plug or 8 across both, with bleed resistors on board for balancing.
Mix boards, scale the pack
Mix 12- and 24-cell boards to match an asymmetric conversion pack, up to 12 satellites and 192 cells. Dual-string and parallel-pack layouts are supported on the same hardware.
What the master does with it.
Limits that follow the pack
Charge and discharge limits track the weakest cell, pack temperature and SoC - not a static amp number written once and forgotten.
Per-cell visibility everywhere
Voltage and internal resistance for every cell, plus module thermistors and satellite heatsink temps, live in the same tools you run the car from: Bolt on the bench, Pulse on your phone in the car, and Cloud for fleet history.
Graded overcurrent response
Overcurrent opens the pack in a graded way: a timed warning band, then an immediate HV abort past the hard limit.
Isolation monitoring
Isolation faults are monitored with the IVT-3-Pro current and voltage sensor.
Passive balancing
Bleed resistors on each satellite, commanded by VCU+ against a pack-wide target, to even the stack when parked or charging.
Same telemetry path
Pack data rides the same Bolt and CAN path as the rest of the car - one DBC, one log, one control system.

BMS is in beta, so it is not on reseller shelves yet. Beta hardware ships direct from us to builds we can support closely.
Apply for beta accessOur VCU+ reseller partners will carry BMS once beta closes. If you already buy through Current LA or Westside EV, tell them you want BMS and we will keep you on the list for the first retail batch.
